Retie the strips when they twist into a rope, which they will after a windy week. A tape wound tight around itself has stopped flashing and stopped working.
90 m Per RollCut it into as many strips as you like
90 metres of moving light for the price of a few spikes.
Extra thick holographic PET tape, cut into strips and tied where there is nothing to fix a barrier to. Cheapest way to cover a lot of ground, and honest about habituation.
A 90 metre roll of extra thick holographic tape, 5 cm wide, that you cut into strips and tie wherever they will move in the wind.
It is the cheapest way in our range to put movement and flash across a large area, which is why growers use it on crop rows.
It needs wind and daylight. In a sheltered corner or under cover it is decoration.
It is a scare product rather than a barrier, so birds do get used to it. Move the strips, add more at pressure points and take it down out of season.
Three pack sizes: a single roll, a 3 roll pack and a 10 roll pack for a commercial run.
The reason tape earns its place is coverage per dollar. A single 90 metre roll cut into 50 cm strips gives you around 180 flashing points, which is more presence than any single object can provide, and on an orchard row or a berry patch that matters more than the strength of any one deterrent.
How you tie it decides how well it works. Leave enough free length to twist and flutter, tie it high enough that the crop does not stop it moving, and vary the heights. A row of tape all tied at the same level reads as a line rather than as movement.
Then the honest part. This is a scare product. Birds under real feeding pressure will work out within a week or two that the flashing thing has never once hurt them, and after that it is bunting. The fix is not more tape, it is rotation: move it, add a few discs, put it up when the fruit colours rather than in early spring.
Where tape genuinely cannot compete is on a roosting habit. Pigeons on a parapet, starlings in a gutter, mynas on a beam: those are barrier problems. Buy the strips for those, and keep the tape for the open ground.

Cut into strips and tied loosely, it twists in the wind and throws moving reflected light where birds were about to land or feed.
How much do I get?
The current price is €110 including VAT. We dispatch within 2 working days. Delivery then takes up to 7 working days by tracked courier. Delivery in Ireland is free on orders of €75 or more, or €25 including VAT below that.
How long should the strips be?
Around 50 cm to a metre. Long enough to twist and flutter properly.
How far apart should I space them?
Every couple of metres on a crop row, closer at the point the birds come in.
Does it need wind?
Yes. Movement is half of what it does. In a still corner it is decoration.
Does it work at night?
No. It needs light to reflect.
Will birds get used to it?
Yes, and quicker than people expect under real feeding pressure. Move the strips, and put it up when the fruit colours rather than months ahead.
Can I leave it up all year?
You can, and it will work less well for it. Birds learn faster from a deterrent that is always there and never does anything.
What is it made of?
Extra thick holographic PET film.
Will it tear?
It is a thicker film than the cheap tapes. What actually ends a strip is usually the tie point rather than the tape.
It has twisted into a rope. Is that a problem?
Yes, that is a strip that has stopped flashing. Retie it, and expect to after a windy week.
Can I use it on a boat?
Yes, and covers and jetties are a common use. Tie it so it cannot slap the cover in a blow.
Will it work on gulls?
Sometimes, and less well than on smaller birds. Gulls are bold and habituate quickly.
Will it work on pigeons?
In an open area, for a while. On a ledge, use the spikes: a barrier beats a scare product every time.
Will it protect fruit?
It helps, and on a serious crop it belongs alongside netting rather than instead of it.
Can I use it with netting?
Yes, and that is a good combination. The net is the barrier and the tape discourages landing on it.
Can I use it with the discs?
Yes. Tape covers the run and discs mark the pressure points.
Which pack should I buy?
One roll for a garden. Three for a decent orchard row or a boat. Ten for a commercial block.
Is the multi pack cheaper per roll?
Yes.
Do the packs come as separate rolls?
Yes, individual rolls in the pack quantity you order.
Does it harm birds?
No. There is nothing to touch and nothing toxic.
Is it safe near stock?
Tie it out of reach. Anything a cow can pull down, a cow will eventually eat.
Will it deter possums?
No. Possums take no notice of reflected light.
Can I staple it rather than tie it?
You can, and it tears out faster. A tie through a punched hole lasts longer.
Does it fade?
It is a holographic film and it does dull with a season of sun and dust. Replace the strips that have gone flat.
Can I use it indoors?
In a barn or a packhouse with light coming in, sometimes. In a dark space it does nothing.
Do you sell it by the metre?
No, by the roll. A roll goes a long way once it is cut into strips.
How much is delivery?
The current price is €110 including VAT. We dispatch within 2 working days. Delivery then takes up to 7 working days by tracked courier. Delivery in Ireland is free on orders of €75 or more, or €25 including VAT below that.
What if I change my mind?
Change your mind? Return it unused in its original packaging within 14 days of delivery; you pay the return postage. If it arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, the Consumer Rights Act 2022 covers you and we pay the return postage. Our refunds and returns page has the full detail.

Getting the most out of ninety metres

Coverage per dollar is the point
One roll cut into fifty centimetre strips gives you around a hundred and eighty flashing points. No single object competes with that, and on an orchard row or a berry patch the number of points matters more than the strength of any one deterrent.
How to tie it
Leave enough free length to twist and flutter. Tie it high enough that the crop does not stop it moving. Vary the heights, because a row all at one level reads as a line rather than as movement.
Tie through a punched hole rather than stapling. Staples tear out.
It needs wind and daylight
Both. In a sheltered corner or under cover it is bunting. That is worth checking before you cut a whole roll up.
The habituation problem, honestly
Birds under real feeding pressure will work out within a week or two that the flashing thing has never once hurt them. After that it is decoration.
The fix is not more tape. It is rotation: move the strips, add a few discs at the pressure points, and put it up when the fruit colours rather than in early spring. A deterrent that appears at the right moment is worth several that have been there since August.
Maintenance
Strips twist into ropes in wind, and a tape wound tight around itself has stopped flashing. Retie them. Expect to after any windy week.
Replace strips that have gone dull. A season of sun and dust takes the shine off, and the shine is the product.
Which pack
One roll for a garden. Three for a decent orchard row or a boat. Ten for a commercial block, where it works out cheapest per roll.
Where it cannot compete
A roosting habit. Pigeons on a parapet, starlings in a gutter, mynas on a beam. Those are barrier problems and the strips beat the tape every time. Keep the tape for open ground.
